Announcement: Simplifying and Enhancing Mate Types

Effective Date: December 17, 2025

To make the allmates.ai platform even more powerful, flexible, and intuitive, we are rolling out a major simplification of Mate types. Starting December 17, 2025, we are unifying all Mates under a single "Native" type, enhanced by the power of Tools.

What's Changing: A Unified and More Powerful Mate Type

Before: 4 Distinct Mate Types

Until now, you could choose from four types of Mates, each with specific skills:

While this structure was clear, it limited a single Mate's ability to combine different areas of expertise.

Now: 1 "Native" Mate Type with "Tools"

From now on, there will only be one type of Mate: Native. This Mate can be customized and enhanced by adding Tools to grant it the specialized capabilities previously reserved for the Assistant, Web Search, or ImageGen types.

The Benefits of this Evolution

This transition to a unified model is a significant step forward for all users:

  • Increased Flexibility: Any Mate can now become an expert in data analysis, web research, or image creation. You can even combine multiple Tools within a single Mate to create a tailor-made virtual collaborator.

  • Ease of Use: No more wondering which "type" of Mate to create. Start with a Native Mate and add the skills you need, when you need them.

  • Combined Power: A single Mate can, for example, search the web for recent data, analyze it using the Code Interpreter, and then generate a visual to illustrate its findings.

Automatic and Seamless Migration for Existing Mates

To ensure a smooth transition, all your existing Mates will be automatically migrated on December 17, 2025. No action is required on your part.

Your Mates will retain 100% of their current capabilities. The only difference will be their type, which will become "Native," and the addition of the Tool corresponding to their former function.

Here is the migration plan:
