Keeping Your Conversations Clear and Organized
Managing messages is crucial for maintaining clarity and relevance in your allmates.ai conversations. By using the available message actions, you can structure your exchanges, provide feedback, and ensure that important information is handled appropriately.
Accessing Message Actions
When you hover your mouse cursor over any message in a Chat or Collab, a small floating action palette appears to the right of the message. This palette contains icons for various actions you can perform on that specific message.

Available Message Actions
Here's a breakdown of the actions available in the floating palette:
1. Hide / Unhide (Eye Icon)
Function: Click the eye icon to hide a message. The icon changes to a "crossed-out eye" to indicate the message is hidden. Click the crossed-out eye icon to unhide it.
Usefulness: A hidden message remains visible to human users but becomes invisible to Mates. This is useful for excluding irrelevant information from the Mate's context, which can help optimize token consumption and prevent contextual disruptions.

2. Copy Message (Copy Icon)
Function: Click the copy icon to copy the entire content of the message to your clipboard.
Usefulness: This preserves the original formatting (including Markdown) when pasting the message into another application or document.
3. Edit Message (Pencil Icon)
Function: Click the pencil icon to edit the content of a message.
Permissions: You can edit your own messages and messages generated by Mates. You cannot edit messages sent by other human users.
Usefulness: Correct typos, clarify information, or refine a Mate's response without needing to generate a new one. This helps optimize the conversation history and the Mate's understanding.
4. Delete Message (Trash Can Icon)
Function: Click the trash can icon to permanently delete the message from the conversation history for all participants.
Usefulness: Remove irrelevant, incorrect, or sensitive messages from the conversation. Use with caution, as deleted messages cannot be recovered.
5. Evaluate Message (Thumbs Up / Thumbs Down Icons)
Function: Click the thumbs up or thumbs down icon to provide feedback on the quality and relevance of a Mate's response.
Usefulness: This feedback helps improve the performance of the Mates over time. It signals whether a response was helpful or not.
6. Audit Message (Database Icon - Super Admin Only)
Function: Click the database icon to view detailed audit information about the message, such as token usage, LLM model used, and processing time.
Permissions: This action is typically restricted to users with Super Admin privileges.
Usefulness: Allows administrators to monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and understand the technical details behind a Mate's response.
Importance of Message Management
Effectively managing messages helps you:
Maintain Clarity: Keep conversations focused and easy to follow.
Optimize Context: Ensure Mates have the most relevant information.
Improve Accuracy: Correct errors and refine responses.
Control Information: Remove unnecessary or sensitive content.
