Navigation and Search

To collaborate effectively on allmates.ai, navigating quickly between your different work contexts is essential. This guide details how to use the universal search engine and manage your projects via the Workspace Home Page.

1. The Universal Search Engine

The search engine is the central tool for instantly accessing any resource on the platform without leaving your keyboard.

Accessing Search

You can open the search bar in two ways:

  • Keyboard Shortcut: Press Cmd+K (macOS) or Ctrl+K (Windows/Linux).

  • Interface: Click the Magnifying Glass icon located at the top left of the sidebar.

What You Can Search For

The engine indexes your entire allmates.ai environment. It allows you to find:

  • Private Chats: Locate a specific chat by its title.

  • Workspaces: Directly access a workspace (e.g., "Marketing", "Sales Analysis").

  • Mates: Find a specific virtual agent (e.g., "Web Researcher", "Code Assistant").

  • Tools: Access your tool configurations (e.g., "Perplexity", "Google Search").

Quick Navigation

Once the search window is open:

  1. Start typing your keyword (filtering is instant).

  2. Use the Up/Down arrows on your keyboard to select the desired result.

  3. Press Enter to open the selected item.

  4. Press Esc to close the search.

2. The Workspace Home Page

Every Workspace has a dedicated Home Page that serves as a dashboard for your project. It offers a consolidated view of all activities and allows you to manage the space.

Overview

By clicking on a Workspace name in the sidebar, you access its Home Page. This page displays:

  • Title and Icon: The visual identity of the project.

  • Description: The context and objectives of the Workspace (supports Markdown formatting).

  • Participants: The list of human members and active Mates in this space.

  • Chat List: The complete history of conversations linked to this project, sorted by recency.

Chat Management

From this page, you can organize your exchanges:

  • Create a New Chat: Click the "New Chat" button or use the main input bar to start a new conversation immediately.

  • Rename a Chat:

    1. Hover over the conversation in the list.

    2. Click the options menu (the three dots ... or the arrow).

    3. Select Rename to give it a more explicit title.

  • Delete a Chat:

    1. Open the conversation's options menu.

    2. Select Delete to permanently remove the exchange.

Workspace Settings

To modify Workspace information:

  1. Click the information or settings icon (often represented by an i or a gear) on the Home Page.

  2. You can edit:

    • The name and icon.

    • The visibility (Public/Private).

    • The description (use the Markdown editor to add bold text, headers, bullet points, or links).

Breadcrumb Navigation

When you are inside a specific conversation within a Workspace, a breadcrumb trail appears at the top of the screen (e.g., Workspace Name > Chat Name). Click the Workspace name in this trail to instantly return to the project's Home Page.
