Navigating the allmates.ai Interface

Get familiar with the allmates.ai user interface and learn how to navigate between different sections of the platform. This guide helps you understand the layout and key elements so you can work efficiently with Mates and team members.

Main Interface Components

The allmates.ai interface consists of several key areas that work together to provide a seamless collaboration experience:

1. Left Sidebar

The left sidebar serves as your primary navigation hub:

  • (1) Organization Menu: At the top, showing your current organization. Click to Access to your account and organization settings

Personal Chat Section:

  • (2) Mate selector: Choose which Mate to chat with for new conversations

  • (3) "+ Personal chat" button: Start a new one-on-one conversation with a Mate

  • (4) List of historic personal chats: Access your previous conversations

(5) Workspaces & Collaborations:

  • Expandable folders containing your team projects

  • Each workspace can be expanded to show collaborations within it

  • Click on any workspace or collaboration to access it

2. Main Content Area

The central area displays your current conversation or activity:

  • (1) Conversation header: Shows the name of the current

    chat or collaboration

  • (2) Message area: Displays the conversation history with messages from all participants

  • (3) Input bar: Where you type your messages and access attachment options

  • (4) Conversation Members: Shows who is participating in the current conversation

  • (5) Conversation Context: Access settings and information about the current conversation

Key Interface Elements

Personal Chats

Personal chats are one-on-one conversations between you and a Mate:

  1. Starting a new personal chat:

    • Select a Mate from the dropdown menu

    • Click the "+ Personal chat" button in the left sidebar

    • Begin typing your message in the input bar

  2. Accessing existing chats:

    • Click on any chat in the "Historic Personal Chats" section

    • Your conversation history will load in the main content area

Workspaces & Collaborations

Workspaces organize your team projects and collaborations:

  • Navigating workspaces:

    • Click on the arrow next to a workspace name to expand it

    • View the collaborations within that workspace

    • Click on any collaboration to open it

Messages

Messages are the building blocks of conversations in allmates.ai:

  • Message components:

    • Sender name and avatar

    • Message content (text, images, files)

    • Timestamp

    • Mentions of other users or Mates (highlighted in blue)

  • Interacting with messages:

    • Hover over a message to reveal action buttons

    • Edit or delete your own messages

Mate Management

Access and manage your organization's Mates:

  1. View, Manage & Create Mates:

    • Click the "Manage Mates" button at the bottom of the left sidebar

    • Browse available Mates

    • Configure existing Mates

    • Create new custom Mates

User Profile & More

At the bottom of the left sidebar:

  • User Profile: Click on your avatar to access:

    • Your profile settings

    • Documentation

    • Changelog

    • Admin settings (if applicable)

    • Log out

  • Manage Mates: Click to access the Mate management section.

  • Feedback / Report a bug: Click to submit feedback, report bugs, or ask questions. This opens a Featurebase-powered form to submit your input directly to the allmates.ai team.

Cross-Platform Accessibility

allmates.ai is available across multiple platforms:

  • Web Application: Access via http://app.allmates.ai on any modern browser

  • Mobile Experience: Use on smartphones and tablets with a responsive interface

  • Progressive Web App: Install on your device for a native-like experience

Getting Started with the Interface

  1. Explore the left sidebar:

    • Click through different workspaces

    • Start a personal chat with a Mate

  2. Try the conversation features:

    • Send a message

    • Upload a file

    • Mention a Mate using @ symbol

  3. Access Mate management:

    • Click "Manage Mates" to see available Mates
