allmates.ai Browser Extension Guide

Install the browser extension, send page content to your conversation, record meetings and set up the side panel.

The allmates.ai browser extension opens allmates.ai in a side panel next to the page you browse. You chat with your Mates, send them page content, record meetings and dictate messages without switching tabs. The extension works in Chrome, Edge, Brave and Arc.

Install and sign in

  1. Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store, or click Install from Chrome Web Store in Account > Apps & extensions.
  2. Click the allmates.ai icon in your browser toolbar. The side panel opens on the right.
  3. Sign in with your usual allmates.ai account. If you are already signed in to allmates.ai in this browser, the side panel opens signed in.

The side panel shows allmates.ai in a compact view. The extension actions sit in a toolbar at the bottom of the panel. If you like the extension, leave a review on the Chrome Web Store.

Send a page to your conversation

These actions work on any website. The result goes into your open conversation as an attachment.

  • Extract Page Text: converts the visible text of the page into clean Markdown.
  • Capture Visible Screenshot: captures the part of the page on your screen.
  • Capture Full Page Screenshot: scrolls the page and joins several screenshots. On pages with infinite scrolling or complex layouts, use the visible capture.

Site-specific actions

The toolbar shows extra buttons when the active tab is one of these sites.

  • Gmail: open a thread, then click Extract Gmail Thread in the side panel toolbar. The extension sends the subject, senders, dates and message text.

  • Google Calendar: click Google Calendar Actions and choose a period, from Last 90 Days to Next 90 Days, or This Week's Events and Today's Events.

  • Google Docs, Sheets and Slides: the first time you use a file, a Google window asks you to select it to allow read access. Extract Google Doc (Advanced) keeps the formatting. Extract Google Sheet Data converts the sheet into Markdown tables. Google Slides Actions offers Extract Slides Text (all slides) and Capture Active Slide (an image).

  • LinkedIn: click LinkedIn Actions. The menu depends on the page:

    • feed or post: Posts + Comments (post text, authors, headlines, reactions and comments) or Posts (no comments);
    • profile: Extract Profile;
    • article: Extract Article;
    • company page: Extract Company.

    Other LinkedIn pages show "No extraction available on this page".

  • YouTube: click YouTube Video Actions and choose Quick Extract, Complete Extract, Comments Only or Transcript Only. The extension collects the title, channel, view count, transcript and comments.

Record a meeting

Click Recordings (the round record icon) in the toolbar, then New Recording. Choose Audio only or Video + Audio to record from your browser. allmates.ai then transcribes and summarizes the meeting. See Recording and summarizing meetings with the AllMates extension.

Send the note taker

The note taker joins a Google Meet, Microsoft Teams or Zoom meeting for you and records it. In New Recording, choose Join a meeting and paste the meeting link. On a meeting page, the extension can also ask "Start the allmates note taker?": click Start note taker or Not now. See the article Recording and summarizing meetings with the AllMates extension.

Dictate in the side panel

You can dictate messages in the side panel with Speech-to-Text. The first time, the panel shows "Enable microphone access so AllMates can use voice features." Click Allow microphone, then Allow. If the microphone is blocked, click Open Chrome settings and allow it. See Using Speech-to-Text: Talk, Don't Type!. Settings

Click Settings (the gear icon) in the toolbar. Click Save Settings to apply a change.

Custom URL

If your organization uses its own allmates.ai address:

  1. Go to the extension Settings.
  2. Uncheck the default URL.
  3. Enter your organization's allmates.ai address (e.g., https://allmates.my-company.com).

Note taker and Google access

  • Suggest the note taker on meeting pages (Meet, Teams, Zoom) turns the meeting-page prompt on or off.
  • If Google services (Docs, Gmail and others) fail, click Force Google Reauthentication under Troubleshooting.

Privacy

  • The extension reads the content of a page only when you click an action button.
  • On Google Meet, Teams and Zoom pages, it detects the meeting to suggest the note taker. You can turn this off in Settings.
  • If an upload is interrupted, you can recover the recording (see Good to know).

Good to know

  • If a recording upload is interrupted, the local copy stays in your browser. The next time you open New Recording, the extension shows Unsaved recordings found: choose Upload & Process, Download or Discard.
  • If an action button does not appear or does not work, reload the web page. Then click Refresh Extension Context (the refresh icon in the toolbar), or close and reopen the side panel.
