As your team grows and collaborates on more projects, your workspace can quickly fill up with dozens of active conversations. To help you maintain a clean, structured, and highly efficient environment, allmates.ai supports Workspace Folders! This feature allows you to group, nest, and organize your conversations exactly the way you want, making it easier than ever to find the right discussion in seconds.

Why Use Workspace Folders?

Workspace folders act as containers for your conversations. They are visible in the sidebar and have their own dedicated folder pages where you can browse nested content. Here is a quick breakdown of how folder membership and ordering work:

Managing Folders (Admins Only)

To keep the workspace structure consistent and organized, only Workspace Admins and Owners can manage the folder hierarchy.

Creating a Folder

  1. Navigate to your workspace sidebar.

  2. Click on the Create folder or New folder button.

  3. Enter a name for your folder and press enter to save.

Nesting Folders

You can create subfolders to build a deeper hierarchy. Simply create a folder inside an existing folder to nest it. Nested folders are fully visible in the sidebar and on folder pages.

Renaming or Deleting a Folder

  1. Hover over the folder you want to modify in the sidebar.

  2. Click the three-dot menu icon next to the folder name.

  3. Select Rename to change the folder's name, or Delete to remove it.

💡 Tip: Deleting a folder does not delete the conversations inside it. Any conversations inside a deleted folder will automatically move back to the Workspace root.


Moving Conversations

You can easily move conversations between the root of your workspace and your folders to keep things tidy.

  1. Locate the conversation you want to move in the sidebar.

  2. Click the three-dot menu icon next to the conversation name and select Move conversation.

  3. In the dialog that appears, choose your destination workspace.

  4. Select either the Workspace root or a specific folder as the destination.

  5. Click Confirm to move the conversation.


Sorting Folders and Conversations

allmates.ai offers flexible sorting options to help you view your sidebar your way. You can sort folders and conversations using the following modes:

  • Created: Sorts items chronologically by the date they were created.

  • A-Z: Sorts items alphabetically from A to Z.

  • Z-A: Sorts items in reverse alphabetical order.

  • Manual: Allows you to drag and drop folders and conversations into your preferred order.

💡 Note on Manual Sorting: Your manual order is completely personal to you. Rearranging your sidebar in Manual mode will not affect how other team members see their sidebar, even though the folders themselves are shared.


Troubleshooting & Link Recovery

If you click a link to a folder that has been deleted, or if you do not have permission to access it, allmates.ai will display a clear recovery message. Instead of opening the wrong content or crashing, the system will guide you back to the workspace root or help you request access.
