Exporting your analytics data

What the analytics data export contains, how to get access and where to find the reference.

The analytics data export gives your data team a copy of your organization's analytics data, in a dataset that you query with SQL. This article explains what the export contains, how to get access and where to find the reference. It is for the data analysts and BI teams of organizations whose offer includes the export. This feature is part of the Enterprise offer.

What you can do with it

  • Build custom dashboards in your BI tool (Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Metabase, and others).
  • Run your own SQL queries for deep-dive analysis.
  • Keep data for compliance, audit or data science work.
  • Combine Allmates data with the data of your own warehouse.

What the export contains

The dataset holds the same activity that the Analytics pages show: organizations, workspaces, members, Mates, models, conversations, messages, tool calls and attachments. It follows a star schema:

  • Dimension views (dim_*) describe the things: members, Mates, models, workspaces.
  • Fact views (fact_*) record the events: messages, tokens, conversations, tool calls.

The data refreshes every hour. A change in the app reaches the dataset at the next refresh.

Get access

  1. Contact your account team. Your account team sets up the access to the dataset.
  2. Your account team gives you the project ID and the location of the dataset.
  3. Connect your BI tool or SQL client with these settings. The "Data Model Reference (Enterprise Single Tenant)" gives the connection steps.

Query your organization's data

Filter every query on your organization with the organization_id column. Almost every view has it. The filter keeps the query on the data that you analyze and makes it faster.

The "Data Model Reference (Enterprise Single Tenant)" lists every table, view and column, the relations between them and ready-to-use queries. The "KPI Reference Guide" gives the definition of each number that the Analytics pages show, so that your own dashboards use the same definitions.

Good to know

  • The tables and views can change with each release. The reference lists the objects on the date of the article.
  • The export does not replace the Analytics pages. Members with Analytics access keep using them in the app. See "Getting Started with Analytics".
