How to Enable and Troubleshoot Notifications

To get the most out of allmates.ai notification, enabling browser and system notifications is essential. This guide will walk you through the steps for major browsers and operating systems, and help you troubleshoot common issues.

The 3 Levels of Notification Permissions

For notifications to work, permission must be granted at three levels:

  1. In allmates.ai : You'll be prompted to enable notifications within the app.

  2. In Your Web Browser: Your browser must be allowed to send notifications.

  3. In Your Operating System: Your OS must allow your browser to display notifications.

Enabling Notifications in Your Browser

Google Chrome (Desktop: Windows & macOS)

  1. Go to Settings > Privacy and security > Site Settings > Notifications.

  2. Ensure "Sites can ask to send you notifications" is selected.

  3. Under the "Allowed to send notifications" list, make sure app.allmates.ai is included. If not, add it manually.

Microsoft Edge (Desktop: Windows & macOS)

  1. Go to Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Notifications.

  2. Check the Allow list to ensure app.allmates.ai is present. If it's in the "Block" list, remove it and grant permission again on the site.

Safari (macOS)

  1. Go to Safari > Settings (or Preferences) > Websites > Notifications.

  2. Find app.allmates.ai in the list and set its permission to Allow.

Enabling Notifications in Your Operating System

Windows 10 & 11

  1. Open Settings > System > Notifications.

  2. Ensure that "Notifications" are turned On.

  3. Scroll down to "Get notifications from these senders" and make sure your browser (Chrome, Edge, etc.) is turned On.

macOS

  1. Open System Settings > Notifications.

  2. Select your browser (Chrome, Edge, or Safari) from the application list.

  3. Ensure "Allow Notifications" is turned on. You can also customize the alert style here.

Special Considerations for Mobile Devices

Android

  1. In Chrome: Go to Settings > Site settings > Notifications and ensure notifications are allowed for All Mates.

  2. In Android System: Go to Settings > Notifications > App notifications. Select Chrome and ensure its notifications are enabled.

iOS (iPhone/iPad)

Web notifications on iOS have specific requirements:

  1. You must be using Safari on iOS 16.4 or later.

  2. You must add All Mates to your Home Screen as a Progressive Web App (PWA). To do this, visit the site in Safari, tap the Share icon, and select "Add to Home Screen".

  3. Notifications can only be enabled from the PWA installed on your home screen.

Troubleshooting: Why Am I Not Receiving Notifications?

If you've enabled notifications but aren't receiving them, check these common blockers:

  • Focus Modes / Do Not Disturb:

    • macOS/iOS: Check if a Focus mode (e.g., Work, Sleep, Do Not Disturb) is active. Go to System Settings > Focus and ensure your browser is not silenced.

    • Windows: Check if Focus Assist is on. Go to Settings > System > Focus Assist and set it to "Off" or adjust its rules.

    • Android: Check if Focus Mode or Do Not Disturb is active in your Digital Wellbeing settings.

  • Private Browsing: Notifications are automatically blocked in private or incognito browser windows. Make sure you are in a standard browsing session.

  • Screen Sharing: Most operating systems automatically hide notifications when you are sharing your screen or mirroring your display to prevent sensitive information from being shown.

By checking these settings, you can ensure you stay connected and never miss an important update in All Mates.
